Sony's State of Play Goes Big: 60 Minutes of Reveals Set for February 12

PlayStation’s 2026 lineup: Wolverine, God of War, and Kojima take center stage
Published 10 February, 2026

Usually, a State of Play clocks in at just half an hour. This time, Sony is dedicating over a full hour to its announcements on February 12. When PlayStation borrows the format of its most ambitious Showcases, you know something big is brewing.

The last State of Play was back in September 2025, already making waves with the reveals of Deus Ex: Remastered and the release date for Nioh 3. For this February edition, Sony is shifting into high gear with a lineup mixing first-party, third-party, and indie titles. The timing is no accident: with PS5 sales finally surpassing Nintendo, Sony is doubling down with a packed 2026 catalog.

60 minutes: more like a Showcase than a State of Play

To grasp the scale of this event, it’s worth recalling how PlayStation usually communicates. Standard State of Play streams last 20 to 30 minutes and focus on a handful of titles. PlayStation Showcases, on the other hand, are Sony’s annual blockbusters: an hour or more of non-stop reveals, trailer drops, and announcements that set social media ablaze. This February 12 edition clearly adopts the Showcase format—even if it’s not called one.

With 60 minutes of confirmed content, Sony is blurring the lines between its two formats. The message is clear: there’s enough big news, gameplay, and worldwide studio reveals to fill a full hour. The September 2025 State of Play, which already made headlines, didn’t even hit the half-hour mark. Doubling down in February suggests PlayStation has been saving up some heavy hitters to kick off 2026 in style.

What we know so far: first-party, third-party, and indies in the spotlight

Sony has confirmed the show will feature PlayStation Studios titles, third-party games, and indie projects. On the first-party front, the 2026 lineup is taking shape with several names already circulating. Saros, the latest from Housemarque, launches on March 20. Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine remains one of the year’s most anticipated releases, alongside Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls from Arc System Works. Don’t forget Horizon Hunters Gathering, Guerrilla Games’ newly announced co-op title, promising “tactical three-player hunts against deadly machines.” MLB The Show 26 rounds out the lineup for baseball fans.

Third-party possibilities are just as exciting. Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Capcom’s Stranger than Heaven have been hotly anticipated for months. Square Enix could finally share news on Kingdom Hearts 4, while Konami might be hiding a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2. And then there’s Hideo Kojima, who posted a photo of his editing setup just minutes before the official State of Play announcement—his first trailer edit in eight months. Will we see a PC port of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach or a first look at Physint, his spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid? The speculation is real. With a new PS Store rewards system and generous PS Plus games in February, Sony is pulling out all the stops for its community—and this State of Play is part of that momentum.

Community expectations: Wolverine, God of War, and surprise reveals

Fans are buzzing with speculation. The most concrete rumor is about Marvel’s Wolverine: a Mexican PlayStation Store listing points to a Q3 2026 release, between July and September. That timing lines up perfectly with a six-month marketing campaign kicking off at this State of Play. Many are hoping for a firm release date and a fresh gameplay trailer from Insomniac.

Another persistent rumor: a 2.5D God of War game, a metroidvania-style adventure that would take us back to ancient Greece alongside Deimos, Kratos’s brother. Teased by insiders throughout 2025, the project has never been officially confirmed. With the Amazon TV series in the works, now would be the perfect time to capitalize on the franchise. As for Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Jason Schreier has dashed hopes for a 2026 release, but a first gameplay glimpse isn’t out of the question.

We can’t ignore the former Xbox exclusives landing on PS5 this year. Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Kiln, and even Forza Horizon 6 are all confirmed for Sony’s console. Some are even whispering that Starfield could make the jump. If even one of these titles shows up during the State of Play, it’ll be a showstopper.

Tune in February 12 on YouTube and Twitch
