PS5 Wolverine: Preorders Start Now—Brace Yourself for the Price (and the Rush)
Hand-drawn claws, an adamantium finish, and a warning from Insomniac that couldn’t be clearer: stock is seriously limited. As of 10am this morning, the limited edition Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 is officially up for preorder.
Sony’s graphic artist set out to capture Wolverine “at his fiercest,” sketching every line by hand before transferring the design to the console. The result? Two collector’s editions—Combat Yellow and Adamantium—launching alongside Marvel’s Wolverine this September, the crown jewel of a PS5 gaming season that’s absolutely stacked.

Preorders: date, time, and where to buy
Today, August 19, 2026, preorders open at 10am local time in each region. Heads up: this isn’t a single global drop, but a rolling launch across time zones. Ever since the release date for Marvel’s Wolverine was announced back in February, hype has only grown—and Insomniac is leaning into it, hammering home just how rare these consoles will be.
Insomniac Games has been loud and clear on social media: “Make sure you’re ready. Once they’re gone, that’s it.” No room for doubt there. As for where to buy, some editions—especially the Adamantium DualSense controller—are PlayStation Direct exclusives, which narrows your options even more. Better have those tabs open and your PlayStation account ready before the clock strikes ten.

Price and configurations: console bundle, controllers, and covers
The Marvel’s Wolverine Combat Yellow digital PS5 bundle is listed at $649.99 internationally. That gets you the custom console, a matching DualSense controller, and a full game download code. If you already own a PS5 and just want to give your setup a fresh look, the covers are available for $74.99—for both the PS5 slim (CFI-2000 model) and the PS5 Pro. The limited edition DualSense controller is sold separately for $84.99.
Exclusive content: what you get when you preorder
Beyond the hardware, the console bundle includes a download code for the full Marvel’s Wolverine game plus digital preorder bonuses. Here’s what’s inside:
- Early unlock for the Classic Brown suit
- Reflective Claws
- 1 technique point to unlock a skill right from the start
- 4 exclusive PlayStation avatars
This content is also available to anyone who preorders the game alone, but the real draw of the bundle is the collector’s set. The official release date for the bundle is September 15, 2026—the same day the game launches. You’ll need a PlayStation account and an internet connection to activate the code.
The Adamantium DualSense controller, with its premium metallic finish, is only available through PlayStation Direct. If that’s the one calling your name, don’t bother checking third-party retailers.
Design and editions: Combat Yellow vs Adamantium
Two distinct visual identities define the lineup. The Combat Yellow edition draws straight from Wolverine’s iconic yellow suit: the top cover features the mutant’s furious face, claws out, in a bold, hand-inked style. The Adamantium edition goes for a sleeker vibe, with a premium metallic finish and transparent claw marks that reveal the console’s inner workings—a seriously striking effect.
The Sony graphic artist behind these designs explained: “I wanted to show Wolverine in all his ferocity. I still draw everything traditionally, so the chance to blend cutting-edge hardware with the raw, spontaneous energy of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting. I’m blown away by how the console and accessories captured that energy, bringing Wolverine to life in a totally unique way.” The covers are compatible with PS5 slim (CFI-2000, with or without disc drive) and PS5 Pro. As Gamescom 2026 showed with Neo Berlin 2087, Sony is betting big on visual spectacle this season.
With stock confirmed to be limited and a release set for September 15, the window to snag one is razor-thin. Now we wait to see if Marvel’s Wolverine delivers with controller in hand—the first previews are about to bare their claws.
