RuneScape: Dragonwilds — the day-one drop that saves the month
This is the one game that makes the Extra subscription worth it this month. RuneScape: Dragonwilds launches September 15 as a day-one release, hitting PC and PS5 at the same time. First revealed at the last State of Play, it promises a co-op survival adventure in the open world of Ashenfall, a forgotten continent where dragons have awakened. Crafting, quests, RPG progression, and a showdown with the Dragon Queen—all steeped in classic RuneScape lore and backed by a fully reorchestrated soundtrack. Sniper Elite: Resistance — the duplicate that raises questions
Sniper Elite: Resistance has been available since September 1 in the Essential lineup, alongside MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes. Now it’s popping up again on September 29 in the Extra catalog. The same game, the same month, in two different tiers. Essential subscribers can claim and keep it as long as their membership is active, while Extra members get access through the catalog—but lose it if it’s ever removed. This is the month’s biggest curveball. Metro Redux, the remaster of the first two Metro games for PS4, joins the Premium catalog—a tier historically reserved for PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP classics. PlayStation had promised no more PS4-only titles in Premium starting in 2026. Now Sony’s backtracking, locking a PS4 game behind the most expensive paywall. The goal: dive ever deeper into a monster-infested abyss, armed with magic-charged projectiles, to recover treasures and rebuild New Ballbylon. It’s classic roguelite progression done right, with new weapons to unlock and heroes to recruit. Available September 22 on PS5.
Date Everything! — the wildest concept of the month
An AI steals your job. A stranger sends you magic glasses. Suddenly, every object in your house comes to life—and becomes a potential date. Welcome to Date Everything!, the most off-the-wall dating sim of the year. Beneath the bonkers premise, there’s some real writing muscle here, with a voice cast full of big names. Every “romanceable” object has its own story and can become your soulmate, best friend, or worst enemy. The game’s already out in the US and UK as of September 9, and in Japan starting today—a staggered rollout PlayStation is testing in these regions.
Slitterhead — urban horror just in time for Halloween
October’s creeping up, and Slitterhead arrives just in time to set the mood. In the neon-soaked chaos of Kowlong, you play as Hyoki, an amnesiac entity with no physical body, hunting monstrous creatures disguised as humans. Gameplay centers on blood powers and alliances with special humans called “Rarities.” The result is a dense, atmospheric horror-action adventure, available September 22 on PS5 and PS4. Perfect for getting into the Halloween spirit early.
Dungeons of Hinterberg — the alpine adventure with feel-good vibes
After the demons of Slitterhead, it’s time for some fresh air. Dungeons of Hinterberg whisks you away to the Austrian Alps, where Luisa, escaping her office grind, discovers mysterious dungeons hidden among glaciers and mountain lakes. The game blends alpine exploration—snowboarding, hiking—with puzzle-solving in dungeons, each with unique mechanics. At night, you bond with the villagers.
