Attack on Titan 3: The Game Drops This Year—And Yes, It Covers That Controversial Ending
The manga wrapped up in 2021, the anime took its final bow in 2023, and it’s been nearly eight years since the last game. Fans have been waiting for a title that covers the entire story—and on December 10, Omega Force is finally stepping up to fill that void.
During a broadcast yesterday on Koei Tecmo’s channel, Attack on Titan 3 officially got its release date: December 10, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2. For the first time ever, a video game will adapt Hajime Isayama’s complete work—from the fall of Wall Maria all the way to that ending that split the fandom. The launch lands just three weeks after GTA 6 drops, making December a seriously stacked month.

The first complete adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s story
The earlier Attack on Titan games had one big problem: the manga wasn’t finished. Attack on Titan 2 (2018) stopped at the Return to Shiganshina arc, skipping the entire second half—the darkest, most political, and most hotly debated part of the series. Now, with the manga’s conclusion in April 2021 and the anime’s final episode airing in November 2023, Omega Force finally has the full story to work with.
The boldest narrative twist? Forget playing as Eren Yeager: in Attack on Titan 3, you step into the boots of a fully customizable member of the Survey Corps—an original character who’ll experience the saga alongside icons like Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and Levi. This lets you relive key moments from a fresh perspective, with way more customization than ever before. The big question: how will Omega Force handle the trickiest story beats, like Eren’s radical transformation and that ending fans are still debating five years later?
New mechanics: social simulation and custom hero
Beyond the signature 3D maneuver gear combat, Attack on Titan 3 adds a social simulation layer that feels more JRPG than classic musou. You’ll build relationships with manga characters through conversations, gift-giving, and other interactions. It’s a way to add depth between expeditions outside the walls—and to make you care even more about the franchise’s beloved heroes.
On the presentation side, Koei Tecmo confirmed a free post-launch update will add a brand-new opening animation from MAPPA—the same studio behind the anime’s final season. This sequence will be directed by Arifumi Imai, the action maestro responsible for the anime’s most jaw-dropping fight scenes. The line between game and anime just got even blurrier.
December 10 launch: editions, bonuses, and early access
Attack on Titan 3 lands December 10, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2. Preorders are already live everywhere except Switch 2, where reservations are delayed for now. Two digital editions are up for grabs: the Standard Edition at $69.99, and the Digital Deluxe at $89.99, which lets you jump in 72 hours early on December 7. The Deluxe also includes:
- A customization pack (3 costumes and 7 creation items)
- A 13-piece equipment set
- An official digital artbook
- A starter item pack
Physical collectors can go for the Steelbook Edition, featuring an exclusive metal case, a reversible art print, and in-game cosmetics. Bonus for longtime fans: players with save data from Attack on Titan 2 or Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle on the same platform will get in-game rewards, with details coming closer to launch. Every preorder, no matter the edition, unlocks the Wings of Freedom hoodie and earrings for your custom character.
December 2026 is shaping up to be wild, with Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also hitting Switch 2. But after eight years without a new game and a complete story finally ready to play, Attack on Titan 3 has a real shot at stealing the spotlight in this jam-packed holiday season.
